World Space Week 2018

The Planets In Your Hand exhibition will be featured for the second time to celebrate the World Space Week 2018 on Sunday 7/10 at the Department of Physics of the University of Athens.
 

The Sector of Astrophysics, Astronomy and Mechanics of the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens organizes every year from 2015, with the help of its students, the event of the World Space Week. Apart from our exhibition, the event includes also other activities and speeches.

The event is for childrens and adults and the entrance is free.

Come to touch the planets of our solar system and celebrate together with us!


The construction begins!

And so it's time! The construction of the exhibition begins and we are more ready than ever to give life to our beautiful neighbors, the Planets!

Student group from the Department Physics of the NKUA has been very successful in the Europlanet Funding Scheme 2017 contest by the European Network of Planetology Europlanet. This distinction was accompanied by funding for the implementation of the "Planets in Your Hand" proposal, which includes the creation of an exhibition where planetary surfaces and the different conditions prevailing in every planet of our Solar System will be simulated. This presentation will highlight the main points of the program, the actions taken so far and the future plans of the group to implement the proposal.

The Public Outreach Team is composed of undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The following students participate: Athanasopoulos Dimitrios, Karabotsiou Sevi, Kefala Kiriaki, Konstantinou Anna, Palafouta Sophie, Papadami Argiro, Skliris Vasilis, Tzouganatos Lefteris, Trivyza Marilia, Chliaras Vaggelis, Christopoulou Elena. Scientific coordinator for the implementation of the proposal is Kosmas Gazeas, Lecturer of Observational Astrophysics of the University of Athens.
