Venus
Venus is the second planet of our Solar System. Its orbit around the Sun is completed in 7.5 months whereas the spinning around itself lasts for 8 months! Also, a unique feature of Venus is that it turns around itself clockwise. Its very slow rotation is believed to be the reason why it does not have a magnetic field like Earth, even though it has the same size and similar iron and nickel core. A key feature of Venus is its large and dense atmosphere, which is 100 times more massive than Earth and consists essentially of carbon dioxide.
Its surface is not visible from space as it is covered with carbon clouds. Thanks to the Venera (1961-1983) mission that visited the planet, it was mapped and it is full of large inactive volcanoes and rivers where lava used to flow in them in the past. It is believed that Venus had a very active volcanic past, but due to the cooling of its interior there is no volcanic activity. The temperature on its surface, however, reaches 480°C everywhere, and this happens because of the extreme greenhouse effect of its atmosphere. It does not allow the heat coming from the Sun to escape, but it absorbs it. In addition to the intense heat, Venus has rains and storms of sulfuric acid that could melt a car within an hour.
